So, I bought an XH snorkel online and when I got it, I discovered it had a massive hole cut into the bottom of it, just as it connects to the filter box. Ask asked what the hell is up with it and he replied that his friend cut it to add extra air flow...
Now, is it useless or does it actually help? I would think the hole would just draw in the hot air from the engine bay, unless he added an extra pipe to this extra hole.

Can you post a pic?

I have an extra hole into my airbox, but it's from a home-made extra intake pipe which runs from the front bumper and through the underside of the guard into the base of the airbox.

Only time I could see a hole in the base of the snorkel doing any good is if it was plumbed to an extra intake pipe that was feeding cold air from the front of the car somewhere.

I'll take one for you tomorrow. I've pretty much decided it'd be useless to me and asked for a refund.
My thoughts exactly about the on the extra intake piping. The hole doesn't look like it ever accommodated any.
PS- Very interested in your build. Subscribed :D

Cheers. Hope you're patient. The friggin' rust work has slowed me up a bit, as has being crook for most of last year. I've been tossing up what to do, but I think I'll just keep committing to it and chip away. Ideally I'd strip it back, tidy the panel work and repaint it, fit another interior and drop a 351 in, but that's a long way off.

At the moment she'll hit 100km/h in about 6.5 seconds and pull all the way up to 170km/h happily. It actually changes down another gear right on 160km/h. Seems funny to have another cog waiting in the box for when you hit 60km/h over the legal limit...
That XR6 engine is brilliant. (Even in an ex-taxi that's done over 200,000k)

I'd love an XD but they're rarer than hens teeth here and priced accordingly.
