Just wanted to know what the differences were between a standard EF 4litre and the XR6 version. So far I've gathered that the heads are different and ECU but what else?

front bar, lights, indicators, bonnet, interior trim, front power windows, red striping, stiffer valve springs (maybe) , differnet cam, slightly ported head, 3.45:1 LSD diff, lower ride height, different exhaust headers(maybe), mid series cluster with volts and oil pressure, black leather steering wheel, mid series BEM, wheels, ECU, cool tickford badges, dash insert says xr6 obviously, alloy tailshaft balanced for speeds greater than 180km/h
bout all i can think of

exhaust headers are the same
obviously the exteriors differes but i think this bloke is after the mechanical side of things. - the tickford 4L head has slightly stronger valve spring, exhaust port are slightly larger 2mm i believe the valves are also bigger to accomodate. the camshaft is also slightly more agressive. comprssion is also lowered slightly -ECU to accomodate for slightly larger cam and different flowing head to the original im guessin afr are slightly different and no speed limiter. - all bolt on are the same except for the fuel pressure regulator which is 300kpa not 270kpa like the standard model. fuel injectors are exactly the same even though u will often see people selling xr6 injectors etc on ebay. - both manual and auto gearboxes remain the same, manual gearbox has a more heavy duty clutch, and the xr models have a alloy tailshaft to accomodate for extra speed as mentioned. - diff is a 3.45:1 ratio LSD compared to standard 3.08:1 of 3.23:1 if you have a manual (i think faimonts may also have this ratio diff) bit of grey area there afaik -suspention is 30mm lower ride hight with stiffer shocks, im pretty sure tehre were other tweaks to the suspention as well but nothing major. think thats all i need to cover |

And the pre EL's had different trailing arms on the rear diff. The same setup that ALL EL's have (afaik)

I keep hearing that the XR6 got an alloy tailshaft. But i swear to god last time my EF xr6 was on the hoist i noticed it was steel. Gonna have to check it out.

I think DC_Todd is referring to the dash, as in the gauge cluster.
