There'll be a yellow sticker on the diff with the ratio if it's stock it should be 3.45 or 3.46 can't remember and it'll have LSD or STD

One way to tell for sure whether LSD or not is to jack both back wheels off the ground, in neutral, handbrake off (and front wheels chocked). Turn one wheel. If the other turns the opposite way, it's an open diff. If it turns the same way, it's limited slip.

Another guy i been speaking to put 4.11 in his and said at 100 it sits at 2200rpm, not sure if he has 4 or 6 spd auto tho. My diff actually just s**t itself (just a XT diff) so im just gunna put in a standard 3.45 xr6 diff in. It should feel a bit more lively for me as the xt diff only a 3.23, i was looking at lsd and 4.11 but the friggin around and extra expense was not worth it.

That's not the only way? As I said there is a yellow sticker on the diff that tells you the ratio and if it's and limited slip diff or standard

Phill that sucks man , yea just go for LSD 3:45.
Unless you want better excceleration get the 4:11 or whatever it is.
Hey you don't think ya diff has stuffed up from the tune do ya?
More stress from extra power ?

Also how do you know? Is it like a kloncking on take off?

As for my diff. Yellow sticker appears to say 3:45 std. That sucks ;(

Why does it spin both when burning tyres?

too much f**k assing around to go lsd, ill just stick with the standard xr6 diff. The std ones will spin both wheels at times, as it was on grass there is really no traction so thats why u got both going. I did have a decent leak from my inner cv joint that could have happened on the way to or from QLD so probably all that extra stress and lack of oil didnt help. I dont think the tune would have done it as it aint exactly pulling huge numbers (prolly didnt help running it on the dyno with the leak though).

As for knowing, well it went fukn bang as i turned a corner and then a constant thudd thudd thudd while driving and an increased in repetition when i put it into neutral. I think some teeth from within it prolly fuked out. All in all i will get away with it for under a grand so im happy, plus the slightly shorter ratio will be nice :)

while were miles away from the starting topic of extractors, what would be the average price to change my xr6 slip diff to a 3.9, and is it a job an average joe could do at home or a workshop job?

if you paid for the cheaper headers, and got the competition headers fitted instead then your laughing and lucky for the deal you got

however if you asked for the cheaper headers, but then were charged for the comps fitted, i would demand a refund of the difference of the headers you asked to have fitted in the first place

Not sure if you mean limited slip or open diff? If you are getting 3.9's get an LSD put in there; in the wet you will have sfa chance of traction otherwise...my EL with 4.11's used to single peg in the dry just by planting it in an auto on 205's :|

I had an LSD rebuilt a few years ago for around $1100...not sure what the going rate is now but depends on what gears they use, what they need to replace, fluid used etc. You are best to ring around, like anything you will find prices vary quite a bit.
