All cars come with a rev limiter, the BA I6 is set at about 6000rpm.

if its a std bottom end and you start revving it over 6300rpm the oil pump gears will fail real fast..lol

To put a rev limiter on your car for performance is like putting a trailer on the back to help with traction down the qtr.. Lol just doesn't make sense.

But as has been said they already have limiters in built. And if your question was to get that raised, you should be doing mods to justify/cope with that. Things like bigger cams to move the power band up the rev scale to have any meaning in raising the limit.

yes i knew they allready came with a stock rev limiter but was wondering if u can either tune the limeter to rev to around 4000 rpm or can you install a new one and set it at what ever you like wich in my case it would be around the 4000-4500 rpm

a flash tuner would be able to reprogram the set rev limit, why would to want it to only rev to 4500rpm?

They have a factory rev limiter, Ford engineers puts it at 6000rpm for reliability and performance. Lowering will only make you lose performance. The engines can rev over 6000 quite easy, but as Troy said the oil pump gears can fail. If you drive a car properly you will find you will rarely ever hit the rev limiter.

Hi,

A teenage driving your Car would be a good reason to change it. Also set the power lower, I wonder if Ford would refuse warranty ? In the old days, they made a " De-tuned " engine for Government cars.
