not sure if its the right place, but lately ive been seing a few BA XR6 Taxi cabs around. I mean really, WTF. Anyone else seen them?

Yeah have seen a few when standing out front of melb and sydney airports. Even see the occasional XR8 taxi!!

wow, havnt seen an xr8 1 yet. but seriously wth would they sepend an extra 10grand + for the XR6 or 8 for a taxi? lol

Yeah see a few floating around. it'd be awesome for the taxi driver.

Customer:-"hi, im in werribee and need a taxi as soon as possible"
Driver:-"no problem im in the city a the mo, i'll be there in 15 minutes LOL"

privateers? If i were a cabbie id rather drive an xr6 then a pov pack car, think of the hours they spend in the car, would u really wana spend that amount of time in a 94 vr commodore?

Lol, as a very frequent taxi user for work purposes, i can honestly say i couldnt care less what the car is :)

In sydney im just happy to get one lol.

I think the XR6 taxis were handed out to a few to see how well they handled after excessive usage and high milage? I think that's why they were first put out there. Just to test it's reliability and such...I remember reading this on here I think.

I've seen plenty around in the city of Melbourne and at the Airport.

i seen a XT with the 5.4 litre in it, and it was badged as a XR8, looked dodgy

In QLD, the maximum age limit for a taxi is 6 yrs, after that, get another one.
When I was in WA in 89, there was a guy in Albany that had a Holden Brougham (69 model) as a cab from new and was still using it then. It was black.

There used to be a white EL XR8 taxi here a few years back. Was just awesome!

I tell ya, you used to pray to get that thing after a huge night out on the town. :D
