Okay, I went to fill my car up today only after doing 280kms. I filled up after the fuel light went on and it hit the orange section on the gauge. I've worked it out that I am using about 20L per 100 kms.
I am leaning towards taking the car for a tune up, so I was wondering if there are any places in Sydney were you would recommend to take the car for this. Plus they can have alook at the idle for me as well. What do mechanics do on a tune up?? Is it things like plugs, leads, timing etc.... What should I check for before I take it anywhere?? Any help woud be apprecitated |

O2 sensor might be worthy of replacement too.

Replacing the right parts will help though. Sounds as if it is running rich rich rich. Replace the O2 sensor and air filter, dump the puter memory and take it on a drive to learn it again. Cheap first step rather than an injector service/tune anyway.

Where does the temp gauge sit when the car has be driven for a while? If its not warming up the ECU will run the mixture rich.

With disconnecting the battery the best is to leave it for about 1 hour, reconnect and then let it re-learn everything again.

The temp gauge seems normal the car does warm up and when it sits in traffice the neddle does go up to the "O" but usually it sits between "M-L" when moving along .

I just bought an O2 Sensor from Repco for $45 and it is exactly the same as the one I pulled out. Leave the positive terminal off the battery for a good hr or in the technical documents section there should be a picture of the pin out clearing procedure but I can't find it.
I just left the battery unhooked, just remember to make sure you have your radio code if you have a genuine Ford sound system head unit. |

Can be bought from an spare parts store like a Repco or Bursons. Bursons are about $47 each for an NGK replacement O2 sensor. |
