im sorry if this is already posted somewhere, i couldnt find it.
Does anyone know if the turbo motor and gearbox will fit into an au? i would prefer the 6auto but the 6 speed manuel would be sweet too. Does anyone know what sorta price i would be lookin at? saying that you could get the motor and gearbox from a wreked falcon. cheers |

no expert, but from what i can gather your looking at around 5-6k for the engine and ecu, then 5kish for the t56, i was told by someone on here that the auto goes for around 8k....
so basically your looking at 10-14k for parts plus installation...... id probabley keep 20k stashed away if you want to do it... that should cover most things your going to encounter.... if anyone else has a definete figure, or some installation costs can we hear about it cause im looking at throwing the engine and manual into a ef, and atm im thinking it will be around 20.... thanks.

i think so, there may be some issue with clearance for the rocker cover though, as i know this problem exists in the ef conversion.
could always get an au BOSS bonnet though **one with a bulge**.... cause ill be grafting the ba/bf bulge onto mine and having a 'just' big enough whole on the inside for the rocker cover to fit.

anything will fit... but what you have to cut out to get it in might not be legal :p.

Buy an XR6T for the cost of your AU conversion.

man, where is peoples sense of adventure!!!
if you dont really love the au shape then i say get the ba, but if you love the shape of your current car and think its better than the ba/bf's then stick with it and do the mod. thats why im keeping my ef and doing the modification to it, cause i really love the shape of it.... but oh well, guess im one of the only crazy ones here.

Your right. Plus you can save a few hundred kilo's by doing the conversion. I don't see any issues with dropping the barra into an AU. He'll they have an identical engine bay and the series 2/3 AU has a very similar bonnet to the BA so it should pretty much just drop in. How's this for a crazy idea. Rules regarding a Full Tub and chassis mods require that the car becomes an ICV (individually constructed vehicle). All this means is that it must pass the ADR's for the first date of rego after all the mods have been done. So if you drop a BF motor into an AU falcon and tub it out you have a race car (minus the rollcage) with full rego and no hassels from the cops. Then when you want to race the thing you fit the cage and put club rego on the car and you have the ultimate street/strip/weekend car. |

yeah you can find ways around that though i think... that jetxr guy did it to an EL.. so an au must be possible. |

aftermarket ecu or wait for teh new boxes to come out from capa which enable teh ba to work only with the ecu instead of needing bcm and lock barrel
