Hey im considering getting either an XR6T or XR8. But im not sure which to get. Im actually more concerned with which is more fuel economic. I understand that they both have a 68L tank capacity. But the XR6T runs premium. I guess my question is which one gets more Km's to the dollar?
Some constructive advise would be appreciated. Cheers

if your worried bout fuel then go with neither!! ive owned both a baxr6t and ba xr8 both manual.but i drove the turbo harder, hence more fuel.but miss my old xr8 too which wasnt that bad on fuel brand new. but why not go the xr8 then put it on gas.

if you look at what 98 fuel costs (about 10c more than 95 premium) for a 68l tank when fully empty, it will cost you a whole $6.80 extra to fill up, 95 premium to s**t 91 is only a few cents per L,
if it was me id always go with the 98 fuel and just buy 1 less beer when you go out and there you go you have paid for it as for turbo or V8 i agree with elmattxr, you dont buy a turbo or V8 for fuel economy coz you will alway just put you foot down a little harder coz you can but the turbo has a better economy than the V8 for sure even a 6 isnt that good on fuel ( just depends how you drive it) just found this Fuel consumption: How the Ford FG Falcon compares to its competitors Six-cylinder engines* Car Engine Power Fuel consumption Ford Falcon 4.0-litre six-cylinder 195kW 10.5L/100km Toyota Aurion 3.5-litre V6 200kW 9.9L/100km Holden Commodore 3.6-litre V6 180kW 10.9L/100km Performance engines* Car Engine Power Fuel consumption Ford Falcon turbo 4.0-litre six-cylinder turbo 270kW 11.7L/100km Ford Falcon V8 5.4-litre V8 290kW 14.2L/100km Holden Commodore High Output 3.6-litre V6 195kW 11.3L/100km Holden Commodore V8 6.0-litre V8 270kW 14.3L/100km Toyota Aurion S/C 3.5-litre supercharged V6 241kW 10.9L/100km * ADR 81/01 fuel consumption figures for vehicles fitted with an automatic transmission. i believe these figures will never be seen in the city unless you drive like a nanna, which being 20 i take it you wont do if you just want the Note go a V8 coz your not going to get it any other way, the XR6T has got faster acceleration and a tubro whine but it just doesnt give you that smile you get from a V8 which is why i just brought a new FG XR8 bugger the cost of fuel |

If you buy an XR6T or XR8 and put it on gas in my opinion you would be spoiling a good car. As said if you want economy than you shouldnt buy any of these cars.

Cant comment on consumption of an XR6T but our BF XR8 Manual can get 13.8L/100km in the city and 10.9L/100km on the highway. That is providing you drive it with a stedy foot. I recon I could get it a little better on the highway if I didnt overtake and sat on 100km/h
Also these figures are not taken from the trip computer avarage its Litres used VS Kms traveled worked out at the bowser.

XR6T is a great car. the only problem i have had with mine is after an intercooler and heavy dyno tune is that i snappped the crank, speakin to a few people and have found this is a quite common problem (in the manuals).
