As the title says XR8 bonnet steel vs fiberglass? What are the pros and cons of each?

Fiberglass bonnets are lighter but that is about all. These days you can pick up new after market XR8 Bonnets from $395.00 to $450.00 on Ebay. Glass bonnets start at around $550.00 unpwards. If the choice was mine I would go steel. Unless you are a dedicated 1/4 mile man, it will make little difference to you.

They're both the same price and both phantom purple and my cars shockwave blue so will need to get it re painted as well. Here is a pic of a genuine one but has a huge stone chip don't now if it's paint or what http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/kjc/11 ... g0_20.jpeg

Or theres the fiberglass one http://imgc.classistatic.com/cps/kjc/11 ... l8_20.jpeg

Take the original, steel, and you know it will fit. If they are both local, do a test fit and see what you like. If you go with the Glass bonnet you will need new lower pressure struts as the std ones will rip the mount points out of glass bonnets.

They said it's a BA Xr8 steel Bonnet. Has a small dimple on bulge from stone chip otherwise panels in great nic. paints seen better days colour code is P3 a Machine buff mite be all that it need.

How easy is it to get the little dent out?

Panel Shop would probably do it for free if it is only minor when they paint it. If it is a concern, go with the Glass bonnet. My preference would still be steel.

Are these bonnets close enough to do a test fit?

+1 Steel bonnet mate. they flex alot and glass is very brittle so wouldnt surpise me if you get cracking and s**t over time. Plus id be paranoid everytime i shut the bonnet it was going to split in half. Get a steel bonnet mate, i got mine for $600 and then had it painted - fits perfectly.
