10W-40 Temperate climates, like England
15W-50 Hot climates, like Italy, Spain, Egypt

Shell Helix Ultra is 5W-40

If Perth is a mostly warm climate, then you might be better off with Shell Helix Plus 10W-40

Ive been using Valvoline Engine armor 15-40 in my EF/EL straight 6 falcons with good results and now im testing Valvoline Dura Blend 15-50 and next Valvoline semi synthetic Dura Blen 15-50 and see what happens. I have also read another ford falcon owner changing from Penrite GAS 10 to Nulon 15-40 and gained 40-50 more kms per tank and Nulon states 36% less friction so it worked in his falcon and im also going to test that.

Some interesting engine oil tests for guys to see, note that there is a PDF link in the ford forums link about 4 posts in

Ive been using mobil 10-40 semi synth in the au for a while. its not super expensive at 30-35 bucks a bottle, and Ive trusted mobil technology for some time.

It deals with the sh*t I throw at it.

Ive used castrol gtx3 before and it was garbage.

Ive also heard from a shell oil company rep at an industry conference that my father attended, that anything under the ultra is garbage, and to steer clear of it. Especially the s**t off the supermarket shelves.

That and castrol magnatec is an evil oil, clogging galleries and causing starvation.

The BA gets HPR 5 semi synth and the EB gets shell helix or Havoline 15 or 20w 50
So far no problems.

Penrite HPR15, use it in the car and the bike, but also add Nulon E20 to it.
