I just built meself a box for my 2 rockford P3 12 inch subs to fit up in that spot
It hangs back about 5 cm or so i think but sounds unreal! So dont go limiting urself thinking u have to go small sub for small space..

I've got a 10" sitting in the cupboard I wouldn't mind fitting. What you've described sounds exactly like what I was thinking. I wanted something removeable so I could unlock/unclip it somehow and take it out.
If you make your box, send through a pick, I'd love to see a it. If your open, I'd be happy to help construct a prototype (though dont have tools and space sorry). |

I'm looking at upgrading my standard 8" for a 10" inch in the boot, but i don't want to lose too much boot space so I was planning to build my own box to sit just behind the seats (theres a 'square' bit behind if you have a look). I made some quick measurements and I have something like 500x260x290mm to play with. Can anyone reccomend a cheapish 10" to fit it? I was looking at a JBL to go in there which I was leaning towards, but I was also looking at the Jaycar 10", but from the specs on the website a box that size would be too small?
Cheers

... after thinking about this, and looking at a program called WinISD it says the ideal volume for my 10" is 10.337cubic ft (292lt)... which is damn big!
According to the FAQ here: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=65 It says a ported 10" box should be about 1.2c/ft .... thats a massive difference. Whats the go here ? |

i built a box into the pacel tray i made 4 my carolla
put a 10" clarion sub in it.. the box is pretty small bout 450x300x120 i was worried bout it being to small and damaging the sub....so i took a punt and put to ports in it. they are about 2" in diameter and i put the from the back of the box going down either side of the sub. but i made the really long so they finished only about 20mm from the other side of the box. tried to work on the idear that there would b enough room from the sub to breath but not let the air just blow straight out and it work bloody awsome...it sounds really good. so i sugest just try it mate if it sounds crap try doing it a different way |

go JL audio, they go in a small box of only .5 cubic ft and thump hard. I dont know what the new driver is but i use to have 3x 10w6's and it went harder than all twin 12in setups.

arent sealed boxes generally smaller than ported boxes?
I have a 12in sub running in a 1.5cu ft sealed box and it worked well running 350-400wrms, although now i got a new amp that puts 580wrms through it i think it needs something a bit bigger

Yes sealed is always smaller than ported and sealed need less watts.
