G'day all

just asking where you blokes with 4ga or bigger power cable have been running them in your eseries? my EL Fairmont has all that sound deadening s**t and I cant see any spare holes or anything. Can't use clutch cable as Im soon to be manual. Should I just drill a hole and use a grommet or should i look harder?

Any tips muchly appreciated

looking into the engine bay, there is a large grommet to the left of the clutch cable hole, where one of the main looms makes its way through the firewall. Can easily fit a few 4ga runs through there.

i dont have 4 guage i have 6 but couldnt use the cable hole as i have a manuel. i manages to squeez it through where the bonnet relese goes through after much trouble. but soon i will be running some 0 guage through and have intensions to make a hole with a nice grommet round it. to make a long story short ide get a good kit that comes with a grommet or find one the right size and make a hole in a nice out of the way place. thats my 2 cents any how

i drilled a hole next to the clutch cable space and ran it through there. if youre going to do that then either cover the hole with silastic or a gromet

I run both my 2 guage cables through the main wiring harness to the left of the brake booster. I used a knife to cut a slit in the grommet next to the loom and taped the wire to a fiberglass rod out of a roof lining and used heaps of silicone spray to pull it through!

i just dont see how im going to get to that main harbess, there is sound deadening s**t and cruise control modules next to the booster, as well as up behind the pedals inside

guess i'll just have to get rough with it

Thats a very good point. But you still need to run atleats 4ga from the engine bay to the 2nd (or single) battery in the boot.

if you really want to get tricky, follow the headlight loom. Take off front dirvers side guard, run the cable behind there, and come through behing the drivers side kick panel. That way, wires are totally hidden!
