I got 6x9s and just got the hole for them, technically is unroadworthy though.

for hassle free...go for the 6". If you have subs or have plans for subs, then don't bother with the 6x9s...if you don't want subs then 6x9s will go nicely with some bass...but personally i'd go for 6" and a sub.

I've had 4 different sets of speakers in the rear of my car in the last 6 months. I firstly put 6.5" splits in. They were too damn hard to fit. Then I got a good pair of 6x9". They were ok when I didn't have my sub... Then when I finished my boot install I replaced my 6x9" with a set of 2-way 6" kevlars.

So after all that I'd definately recommend 6" speakers for the rear if you have a sub and 6x9" speakers if you dont. 6" provide clearer mids to blend with the sub whereas 6x9" give you more lows, crappy & limited lows but lows none the less.

Splits sounded about as good as my 2-ways. IMO splits in the back, unless your doing a serious SQ system, are a waste of time and money. That said, to fit them I simply bought a pair of fibreglass spacers which had provisions for a mid and a tweeter, cut the holes in the spacer and mounted them. My bro bought them for me as a present which is the whole reason I put splits in the rear.

You may as well spend the money on the front stage where it really counts and just put a $100 pair of soundstream coaxials or something in the rear. They look neater and sound just as nice...

I just put new splits in the front of my EB and moved my old Pioneer splits to the rear. They fitted perfect and used the existing mounting screw holes. I put the tweeters at ear level where the seat belt comes out.

The Pioneer TS-D range are exceptional. s**t all over the lover models. However, if you weren't sticking to Pioneer, for that price you could get any number of brands
