i was wondering what people think of this idea i have come up with? i may be getting a half decent set of 6x9s for nothing, and was thinking of building a pod in the map pocket area at the bottom of the front doors of my EA wagon and sticking them there.
i currently have a set of VDO Dayton MPC1300 5 1/4 inch splits, and was looking for a bit more kick up front. i also have a 12" s-type sub and thats drowning all the bass that the little woofers can pump out at the moment.
i was just wondering if anyone has done, or seen this done and what they think?

You would be better adivsed from an SQ point of view with a set of 6.5" splits. If your happy with the VDO ones then upgrade them to the 6.5" version.

Alternatively you could add a midbass and have a 3 way system with your current 5 1/4" splits. That would certainly play loud but you will need to be able to mount the midbass somewhere?

so it is definatly a sound quality thing rather than just vibrations in the door if i were to use the 6x9's? i was also thinking of just running them in low pass mode on the filter as i just want bass out of them anyway?
the main problem is that i dont really have enough money at the moment to spend on a mid bass driver or new set of splits, so i was just trying to use what is available to me. i had actually heard of someone who did put 6x9s into the bottom of the doors of a commodore and it came out really well.
thanks for the input anyway

Your best bet is to go with a decicated midbass driver but 6 x 9's will work and have been done before.

By design an oval speaker doesn't have the bestv frequency response but it will certainly provide a good amount of up front bass, so if you have them and can't afford anything else but have the time to make them fit and sound deaden the door properly then they will work fine.....
