Hello

I recently replaced the factory double DIN head units in my '98 EL Fairmont Ghia with an aftermarket single DIN head unit. I am now left with a gaping abyss underneath the new head unit.

Unfortunately the interior of my vehicle is cappucino colour, therefore, I cannot simply visit a wrecking yard and purchase a DIN pocket suited to an EL Falcon as they are predominantly grey in colour.

Does anyone know if Ford ever manufactured 'cappucino' colour single DIN pockets?

Regards

Anthony

Thank you for your reply.

Do you think Ford would still be manufacturing them?

you may be able to pick one up from a dealer, but i doubt they'll be too cheap! :(

post up in the 'wanted' forum, you may have some luck, and just keep an eye out on Ebay. plus, a call to a few wreckers may be worth it! contact darren @ FTG (site sponsor) - he'll be able to help if he's got one!

Your interior looks grey?? They are available from ford for around $110. Grey ones are a dime a dozen at wreckers and you should also use the single din mounting brackets for the HU as the double ones foul on the surround pocket.

you can buy generic pockets that bolt into double DIN spaces to use empty space, they are usually black and bolt in to standard stereo mounting holes. talk to a car audio shop. might be a easier fix.

i might be doin gthis so i can use a DL LTD double DIN woodrgain surround.

The interior colour is 'cappucino'. It appears grey in many photos due to the camera flash.

Why not just move your CB into the gap and make a facia to take up the rest? :)

I purchased a Single DIN Fascia from 'Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage' (excellent service and prices). I have attached a photo below of the Double DIN - Single DIN conversion.

I am considering mounting the CB/Scanner detachable face on its bracket in the DIN pocket.
