Ok, are they worth it?

Looking at Kicker ES 6" Splits ( ~ $220 ) to replace the stock units (Stock is futura - so have the splits up in the dash as is) off the head unit

1 single 10" Kicker Comp in boot.

The system is not mega massive, and the speakers definitely wont need to be competing for bass (10" aint put THAT much out - just enough to enjoy)

So yeah, from EXPERIENCE - is it worth upgrading the splits? Afterwards am i gunna sit back and think the sound is comparable or its like a totaly new system?

Thoughts?

Thanks

the stock system is okai for the untrained ear or those who dun give about sound. i prefer to replace them all cause the sound comes out better.

The front stock drivers are basically crap! the cones on the 6" are that flimsy you could strain your coffee through them!!
A good set of front splits will improve the sound quality dramatically. A 10" sub will also improve bottom end but would be alot more efficient in a boxed enclosure.
Have some pics in my gallery, just a small set up with splits and a 10"sub.

I got a mate who has stock speakers and blasts his subs hardcore up around 115db (roughly). His stock speakers are fine. I dont think its that urgent, but why not?

Definitely worth upgrading the splits.
Factory splits are adequate without being anything more.

sorry for digging this up.....the EF/EL stock front speakers are 6" yeah? is it going to be harder to put in the 6.5" splits? or just some minor mods....i dont mind making some moulds for the door either just that i dont have a spare door mould to play with.

Very simple.

Just use some 9mm mdf and make a ring to go around the speaker.

Screw the spacer to the door in the standard spot then screw the spewaker to the mdf spacer.

No need to modify anything. Should take about 15min to do both sides.

The speakers in the front door, are they 6 or 6.5 inch? Hear alot of contradicting reports on here about their size. I want to buy some speakers for the front doors without having to modify anything.

supposedly 6", but all 6-6.5" speakers are pretty much just in that size range, some manufacturers use cone size, some use the outside diameter of the speaker basket, etc
