can anyone suggest an after market CD MP3 player unit that will fit into an AU XR6, i need one that will be compatible with the steering wheel buttons.

mate i am not sure that you can make them compatable.
i was told that you could put a new h/unit in but couldnt hook up the buttons on the wheel.. i could be wrong but this is what bloke at car audio joint told me..

um if the hu has a remote in then u can run the remote from the buttons into it, other then that yea put the cct from the remote into the buttons on ur wheel, xpensive but itll work

the audio shops should be able to put the HU remote for the volume up and seek buttons into the ford steering wheel buttons. not expensive i was quoted around $50 a few yrs back

You can get a infared converter which hooks up to the factory wires behind the unit.
It has an infared eye which you can mount in front of your interior light or in the console as long as it points towards the unit. It will work most head units that are remote control ready. It has switches inside the unit that can program to different head units and different model cars. It's called a CAT08. If you try different car audio stores, someone should sell them. For memory i think STINGER are a distributer for them. Hope this helps!! Cheers' Dave
