Forget the legalities i want to use my dvd player how it was intended..

Ive read some people say i just need to ground the wire to the handbrake and some say i need a 2nd ground and a switch setup.

Which is correct? I just want it always on. I don't like using the handbrake on my car as it is "sticky" and will sometimes stay partially on and i quite often have front seat passengers who want to watch dvd's not watch a blank screen and hear dvd's lol.

Thanks guys!

Would it be okay to run it to the same ground that my immobiliser uses?

just ground the handbrake wire to the chassis somewhere.

The switch set up is if you want to have a hidden switch that you can flick if mr plod pulls you over and wants to test your screen I believe

hehe yeh what youve done is fine and whats been said is spot on the toggle switch was only to bypass the handbrake so it can remain on regardless. Purely there to keep you and the cops happy so you dont get stickered :). For a couple bucks dude its worth it...far less thsan the fine or costs involved when you get defected for having a non-ADR complian tmodification.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to fix your handbrake before worrying about a dvd player???????????

One thing I forgot to ask too was if this screen is one of alpines roof mounts...are screen apart of one of their motorised head unit with the swivel function you dont have too have the power routed via the handbrake...

As ADR41 - Point 1) states: A television receiver or visual display unit must not be installed in a vehicle so any part of the image on the screen is
visible to the driver from the normal driving position.

Therefore if no part of the display image is visible to the driver it may be fitted and ran at all times.
