see if any fuses are broken. change if they are. if thats all good. try and swap the amp for a working one and seen if that fixes the problem. if still no good. try and other cd player.

yeh check fuses...may even be an internal fuse has let go internal to the amp...which as said by others an amp swap would help determine

Sounds like the HU is loosing power as the amp is working harder. Check the battery terminals to make sure they are clean and supplying the power needed, also check the inline fuse to the amp for a good clean connection. If you have a multi meter check the voltage going to the HU and amp when its turned up before and after the supply fuses. If there is a substantial voltage drop after the fuses especially on the bass notes that will be the problem (poor fuse connections) The amp could have been damaged and is biasing out then drawing alot of current cuasing a voltage drop which then the HU cuts out.

Bass does draw the most amount of current, does the interior lights dim alot more after you fizzed the power? if so and all the power to the amp is hooked up correctly (remote not hooked up to the + on the amp) i would be asking a mate to try their amp in there to proove it is the amp and not the power source.

i think your CD player is goners...try it with another head unit and see. at least now you know...when you are working in area where electricity runs...undo the negative.

no undo/disable your positive....if you undo negative it doesnt do anything cause when you undo your positive its still live and only has to go near a conducting part of the car to short out
