Labour day 05 i decided to start installing all my new gear.
Shopping list as follows Pioneer DEH-P8650 Infinity Reference 6.5" splits Infinity Reference 6.5" Coaxial (for rears) 2 x Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 4ohm SVC Subwoofers Pioneer GMX742 2 x 80WRMS amp JVC 2 X 150WRMS amp Alpine MRD M1001 mono block amp 0/1 Gauge Stinger custom pro wiring, 3 pairs of RCA's Subs are being housed in a 3.5cuft enclosure, ported and tuned to 28hz. Went out and purchased the 18mm MDF today for the sub box, and started working on the car about 1pm this afternoon I'll tell u what, getting 0/1 gauge wire thru was no easy task, its a little different to 8gauge that was existing in the car! here's a pic of the 250A fuse holder installed, still hard to get an impression of how FAT that wire is! Here's a pic of the progress of the sub-box. As you can see its mostly assembled, sorta got late for me to start cutting holes for the subs I'll keep posting pics of my progress, and i'll be more than happy to answer questions on the install i'm doing, or installs that u guys might be doing for EF/EL's.

i'll try to take some more phone photos of the 0gauge in the car. to give u an idea, i ran it under the battery (there's a hole i managed to get it thru. then it runs up above the wheel guards, beside the engine bay. in thru a grommet into the kick panel and along under the door trims... none of it is visible and it doesn't looked "forced" into the car... but i'll tell u what, its a grubby job and requires a bit of patience... i have red hair, i don't have patience
last nite i was a fairly tired from work, deadened the boot with some sound deadening i had lying around and played around with some fitting of the box... going to have to make up a stand / support for it as the box sits on the rear hump and sticks out over the spare wheel well. its remarkably tidy so far for my first box construction should be picking up the distro blocks today so i can start building the side amp rack and get the amps in. i'm having trouble tracking down the second sub as infinity isn't a very accessible brand yup, its been expensive so far 8650 - $1000 Splits - $200 Rears - $120 Subs - ~$350 each Pioneer amp - $350 JVC amp - $550 Alpine monoblock - $1000 0/1 gauge Wiring kit - $150 Wood and materials - $100 Another 4 gauge wiring kit and 2 stinger distro blocks - $100 TOTAL = $4270 f**k!

Sounds like its coming along nicely, i'd like to do a setup like this in my car one day too. Where did you get the Infinity Reference 6.5" splits
and Infinity Reference 6.5" Coaxial if you don't minde me asking? The best i found so far was $400 for the spilts and coaxials from Hifi Supermarket.

"our design" huh? hehehe, here u go nicko
width : 30" Height of back : 14" Top depth 16" Bottom Depth 21" Internal volume ~3.5cuft These are external measurements, so you'll have to take into account the width of the wood for some of the cuts... these are the figures off the top of my head at work The most restrictive factor in the box building is the rear axle hump and in the bolts that hang down from the parcel shelf. These bolts are not modifyable cos they're seatbelt bolts, i'd rather keep my roadworthiness 12" subs will fit comfortably on the front of this particular box as its designed like this .........____________ ......../************| ....../*************| ..../**************| .../_______________| err that looks s**t, but u get the idea, flat back, angled front. u get the idea from my pics anyway progress wise, i'm running a bit behind, didn't get much of chance to work on it yesterday as the car was at the mechanics all day so i didn't get to work on it til later that night. i've fabricated the side mount for the JVC and pioneer amp, and run cabling, now i have to trim and fit the amps to it box wise, i've made an aero port out of some 4" PVC pipe, burnt some carpet in the garage while i was at it... that stank the front piece that the subs are mounted onto is taking a while, i'm being very delicate with cutting it as it wasn't an easy piece to make and i dont' want to have to do it all again! the port hole has been cut and i'm filing it to the right size, sub holes will be cut after work today, then i'll trial fit the subs then fix the front plate onto the box. the box is pretty well finished then as the bracing is almost complete too, left the glue to dry overnight so i'll screw it in place today next on the agenda is a fascia to be made for the back of the box to finish it into the boot better, then mount the alpine amp onto the back of that. run my 2 distro blocks and wire up the subs. hopefully the sub will be delivered today as they aren't easy to get! CANNOT WAIT!!! i'll post more pics later

So youre running both subs in the same chamber? Interesting.
I was always under the impression that it was somewhat of a no-no. Using some MDF down the middle of the box to separate the chambers also acts as a fantastic brace!

as long as the phasing is correct, having 2 subs in the same chamber shouldn't cause any issues.
also, i wouldn't be able to fit the porting the way i wanted to if they were in a dual chamber box.

Good points, I guess its would be less important in a ported enclosure anyway.
