Like data_mine said, best place to take it from is the ciggie lighter. You can still run the deck and the ciggi lighter at the same time. Thats what ive done.

He said the battery (constant) power was already run. So it shouldn't lose any settings. It just won't know when to turn on/off.

Hey punktured
How much did that single DIN Fascia cost you, is it this one "http://www.theaudiofactory.com.au/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=3" Was it Easy Running Power and RCA Cables to the Headunit, What about the radio cable, i know you need an adapter, is it possible to do with with out taking the Center Console out? {USERNAME} wrote: The gear stick doesn't get in the way.
Just a quick pic of how it looks, still need to adjust it properly to fit in (slightly off on to one side) |

{USERNAME} wrote: Ok, I've done it, and here's how: Here are the speaker wire colours and their easiest accessible locations (kick panels) Forgive it not being a ford, but meh. The passenger kick panel's speaker wires are at the bottom of the big orange plug: Here are the wires you need: You need to connect extension wires to the speaker cable and leave the ICC side of it unplugged. Here's a pic showing which side to connect to: And this is the loom under the driver's kick panel that has the right front speaker wires in it: So yeah, wire up a bunch of extensions, thread them through the dash etc and connect up to the new head unit. If you're mounting a sub and amp, this kick panel is a good place to run your power cable too. Just push it through the bonnet release cable's grommet and into the bonnet: Finished product looks something like this: If anyone's got any questions about how i've done any of this, feel free to PM. did you not see this on the last page or somthing...

{USERNAME} wrote: For those attempting to 'splice' the speaker cables instead of disconnecting, I would warn you to do this very carefully. If your head unit is high-powered, you could conceivably push some high current the wrong way into the stock ICC and damage it, or even have excessive noise because of the two systems using the same lines. You could always place a diode on the positive wire from the ICC and on the negative wire to the ICC to restrict electricity flow going to it. |
