you can get an aux input for them. they are wired in then you have a 3.5mm jack to pug into so you could plug your walkman into that

so what exactly do you want....
to get a music from a walkman onto the car stereo?

you can get an adapter from shops, that plugs into the head phone socket...
through to the cigarette lighter..
the bit on the end of the ciggarette lighter plug thingy, also sends out an fm radio signal, mine is 107.9... and it plays what ever the head phone jack plug is plugged into

its an accesory fom ford, then you just need to plug the walkman into the aux plug and away ya go.
why do you want to listen to tapes though?

like i said, it's my dad. he's obsessed with learning languages, and has all these language tapes and basically the only prob he has with an xr6 (or obviously any falcon) is no tape deck. pain in da bum.

so just to clarify, this aux out - would this be something u need to specify when ordering the car or can u just take the car to ford and say 'i'll take one of those, thanks'.

cheers.

naa just take it to ford.. u can even just purchase it from ford and fit it yourself.. its easy as pie, just plugs in...

theres 2 parts avaliable from ford, one is like $30ish and the other is like $90ish, but the expensive one is far better as it has noise supression etc..

Or, if you have a CD burner, you could connect the output of the walkman or a home deck into the "Line In" of the souncard on the computer, record onto hard drive and then make CDs / MP3s???
Although, if he has a lot of tapes it could be a pain.

i'd imagine if you are buying the car new you could just ask them to fit it for you before you pick it up.

the BA stereo is part of the ICC. (climate control) meaning unfortunatly you cant just "chuck that in" because it is all intergrated.
