Hey guys,
Got a new amp and splits. My amp runs 125wrms per channel for the splits. The splits are 70wrms. I have the gains set to point 0.8 however i can have them at 0.5, 0.8, 1, 1.2, 1.5, 2, 3, and 4. Ahh i was just wondering if the cones should be getting warm or not when i push them hard. Because i run them at 160htz, i cant really get distortion coming through so i can't tell if i am overdriving them. The other day though, i felt them and they were warm after about 5 minutes of playing and had a panic thinking i was gonna stuff them up. i will be getting some sound deadening soon so i wont have to push them as hard to get the same volume but what do you guys think about the temperature of them. cheers |

depends on how warm..... warm to touch is fine, but hot so you cant hold a finger on it means trouble..... heat is just a normal part of a speakers function

hm yea warm is ok, but it gets really hot, that spells trouble, normally you will notice a change in your speakers before this happens anyway.

You will generally notice a substancial sound difference if they get really hot. But not always. But warm is normal.
