At least its easy to put an aftermarket head unit in one of those. MP3 head units are only about $100 now

Chances the laser is dusty, remove the unit, remove the 2 screws at the top at the back, and lift off the top. get a dry fresh cotton ear bud, and gently wipe the laser from the back of the unit looking through to the laser. i've done this with 5 units, and managed to get 4 working. do not use any cleaning agent, thats when the 1 that didnt work again happened.

ASL quotes $400. I would like to upgrade but want to keep the steering wheel controls. Can any one share their pearls of wisdom on a course of action? cheers Bill. |

Small world, my AU2 Forte also spits cd's and fm doesnt work (aerial not connected? Because a stereo FM transmitter works :s)
I am going to get a Single Din aftermarket unit. |

I think I will get an aftermarket unit. There are units available under $400 that it would cost to repair my factory unit and that also give ipod connectivity.
There seems to be an interface module for the factory steering wheel controls to still be used. cheers Bill. |
