Hi Guys

Now I'm sure that this has already been answered but I cant see many answers so hey im blind you get that :D

I want an aftermarket head unit preferably mp3 but I still want to use the steering wheel controls. I've heard that there might be kits from autobarn for this and also think I've read that a lot of head units with remotes can be rewired to the steering wheel controls if u know what your doing.

Can anyone tell me what ive heard that is actually true or suggest some ideas for this.

Thanks a lot everyone

PS. Off topic, does anyone know of a good wreckers is SE queensland for finding AU parts

i told somethis b4 go toa car stereo shop and depinding on what unit you buy they can usually wire up the remote into the steering wheel controls
BUT the wheel needs to be level ie as you are driving striaght, the new controls will work on ir not hard wired into the deck as they are now

There is an adapter you can buy. It would cost a couple of hundred to get it working. I had the site somewhere, but lost it.

ARR DAM

Thenks for replying guys, I guess i'll be sticking with the standard headunit for a while yet. Maybe if the tapedeck starts to die I'll decide that I don't need the steering wheel controls, but they are so usefull.

Thanks again guys

If I could buy a double din cd/mp3 player for mine where the steering wheel controls worked I'd go and buy it tomorrow. But I love my steering wheel controls so much I'm willing to stick with the poxy, ugly thing that it came with (AU1). The AUII unit looked heaps better!

if you really wanted to you could get a HU with a IR remote and tape it to your steering wheel

Personally I'd rather an aftermarket HU, than the use of the steering wheel controls.

Just my 2c.
