i have a set of the ford standard pioneer splits that used to live in the front of a mates AU XR6. would i get better sound by replacing the front speakers on my EL GLi with these AU ones??? does the GLi even have the tweeter in the front? at the moment i have some nice speakers in the rear and the standard EL ones struggling for life in the front because the amp is too much for them...

Your GLI should have the tweeters, as my base model GLI EB had them before i did the conversion anyway.
The AU speakers will sound a bit better, but they are a different shape to the EL ones. EL have a 6" speaker, where as AU have a 5 x 7" Speaker. You'd be better off just buying some new splits. They'll sound better anyway, espicially on the amp, and fit straight up.
