Hey all, I have noticed in the last few days an audible ticking sound coming from the front speakers, have no idea what could be causing it

Its been such a long time since I installed all this gear so off the top of my head I couldnt tell you exactly what the speakers and amps are...

A little background info;
0 Guage wire from the battery (100 amp inline fused) to distribution block.
2 x 8 guage wires from dist. block, 1 to capacitor, 1 to my speaker amp.
2 x 4 guage earth links from each amp to seating bolts.

Front speakers (from memory) are 250wrms pioneer splits (remote mount tweeters)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, the sound goes away pretty much completely with a tiny bit of volume, but its so goddamn annoying with the source muted

Err... forgot some things there...
The sound is only audible with the source either muted or at a very low volume, ie volume on 0 to 2.
(Normal listening volume, atleast for me cause I like to be deaf is about 25)

Im hoping my speaker amp is not rooted cause I cant afford to replace it atm
Cant recall what that one is, i think its a 4x150w RMS Pioneer amp... but not too sure.

have you tried using different cd's?

Could be a few things.

Does the pitch or spped of the ticking sound vary, depending on RPM???

If so, it is normally the Alternator interfereing with your sound system. Try a different set of RCA's. That is all I had to do when I had a ticking sound.

if that doesnt work, try swapping/bypassing components, one at a time, until you work out wehat the problem is (Having a friend that owns a ricer helps here )

Have tried different CD's and same thing.

Also the sound happens when the car is off, I thought it could be related to the alternator too but it wouldnt be doing it with the car off ...

try put in a noise filter module or even a capacitor in the circuit to suppress interference & spikes.
