Hi im installing a largish soundsystem (Dual alpine Type X 12" powered by 2 Alpine PDX M12s and a Hertz EP4 at 4x95W for a total power of 2380W RMS) in my 2003 BA XR6 and was wondering if anybody knew where I could source a high output alternator?

Hi I've only found these off the shelf type alternators at 120amps on ebay at best.
Are you sure you need such a high output alternator - afterall your stereo is not going to be drawing full current at all time?

do your calculations on all your audio equipment again, no way you could be using close to 200A. as mentioned your only going to see high current draw when its absolutly maxxed out to apoint of distortion so that is not going to be long at all.

maybe its worth looking into a deep cycle battery set up with smart charge solenoid. this way you can start your car if you flatten your deep cycle batteries with your stereo.
