Hey guys,
I just picked up a BA xt and not really happy with the stock sound system, so i went and purchased a new one.
What i would like to know is, the head unit i got was a pioneer dehp9850 and i was wondering if it was possible to use the volume and seek buttons on the steering wheel with the aftermarket stereo? if so how?
Cheers

AFAIK - the buttons on the steering wheel all go into the main interior controller, and control everything from there... cruise, climate, sound, phone, etc is all from there. So they are not just usual buttons as they used to be, they work of the CAN system in the BAs IIRC.

Hooking them up to an aftermarket deck, while isn't impossible, is difficult. That said, I'm pretty sure this has been covered before.

Cheers

Definately do-able.
I've currently got a working prototype with a DEH-P6750 in my BA, which controls volume, track fwd, fm/cd, station seek etc from the std wheel buttons.
Albeit its not a 'learning' system (ie the remote codes are pre-programmed into it) it seems to work ok.

PM me in a month or so, and I should have a few more units available.

i think JB Hi-fi have units you can buy that keep the steering wheel controls. otherwise i remember seeing a remote control thingy that connects to the steering wheel and whenever you press the buttons, it sends a signal up into an infra red unit mounted on the roof, which controls the cd player
