Does anyone know the difference between the BA and the BF version of the iPod/MP3 player kits?

Aside from the BF one coming with a booster (amplifier?), is there any major difference which will make one better than the other? According to Microcat, the BF one will not work with my BA. Does anyone have a BA which has the BF kit installed?

Thanks,

Both kits work in all B series and Territorys. I bought the one with the amp, and the instructions said it was to suit all B series and Territorys. I had no problems fitting it to my bf xt. Even with the amp i need to turn the ipod most of the way up to get a decent volume through the sound system, so spend the extra cash if that's what you want it for.

edit: The kit just plugs into the loom that the mobile phone integration uses if that helps explain it better..

So basically the amplifier unit that comes with the kit just means you don't need to jack the ipod to the maximum level?

I keep my ipod on maximum volume, and i have the volume limit on the ipod set to as high as it can go, and i use the stereo to adjust the volume. I tend to listen to things at about 17-20 when i want it up as loud as the factory speakers can handle without distorting if that helps give you an idea of how hard you need to push an ipod with the amp in the kit. I don't like having to turn the stereo up really high as it introduced a hissing sound.

Did you get the newer one or the older one?

Newer one uses dock connector for charging and line out for sound, rather than amplifying the headphone out.

Thats right.. I sold you my one didn't I.

I bought it and wasn't happy with it because the one I made for my EL used the line out from the ipod and was heaps better sound wise, plus it charged.

So I sold that one and made my own for the BF that used the line out and charged... Then bloody ASL developed their own about 4 months later, was shattered. But it worked perfectly until I upgraded to a Nano Gen 5, and it required special Apple cables to use in a car.

ASL got around that with this new version, and it does an awesome job.

Other bonus is using the dock connector, when you turn the car off the ASL kit pauses the sound so you dont have to do it.
