Try Car Audio places.
I have 1/0 AWG running from the battery to a distribution block in the boot for my amps. I bought it from JB hi-fi, but I suppose that other car auddio places would have it. Failing that, I would see if an auto electian can get it in for you.

I can also get my hands on about 20-30m of some 35mm multi stranded cable. Although i'm not sure, but i think it may be single insulated. So if anyone's interested, i might be able to grab it, (if its still there) and split it up into 5-6m lengths or whatever, if people need it?
Would probably only end up at about $5 a metre or so. |

with regard to more strands of wire meaning lower resistance:
having more surface area means lower resistance, however air gaps in betwen wire strands increases resistance. In general the greater surface area has a greater effect than the air gaps and therefore having multistrand wire results in lower resistance than single strand.

Nearly all audio grade cable is oxygen free, both power and speaker cable.
ANL 0g fuse holders normally come with a 200-300amp fuse. The recommended max for most 0g is 325amps, so I wouldnt go past 300. I think mines got a 200 or 250amp fuse, which is plenty as the fuses on my amps are 40 and 80 amps. Work out the max current draw your whole elec system will have, then add about 20/30% for the fuse you'll need. If its under 300 then its all sweet. Not many people realise the fuse on the original power cable is for the cable itself, not whats connected, but it seems you're already aware of that, so you've got a headstart on most others. |
