gday all i just finished my boot install last night ive got 2 TSW306C's in a custom built box as close to specifications from pioneer as possible to fit in the boot.....and ive got a audiobahn A8000T monoblock....ive wired the whole thing up and went and turned her on and ive noticed on faster songs like ministry and such the bass almost seems likes its on delay.......but i cant tell wether its just messing with my head?? when i had them connected in my room to my stereo it sounded perfect....now im wondering whether its amp tuning or something or whether i may need to block off the boot from the cabin?? any ideas would be great......also im running it off a pioneer DEHP6850MP... thanks in advance

Is the box ported or sealed?

You'll get that with sealed boxes, just how they work. Which sucks coz I listen to a lot of heavy double kick s**t which my sub f@rt out at high volumes. When I get 5 mins to myself I'm re-doing my box so it's nice and ported.
Although it does sound awesome on old school Dance Trance stuff

ohh crap as i was under the impression after reading through tonnes of info on here sealed was the way to go for clarity and ported was for loudness.......thing i dont understand is why it was perfect in my room connected to my stereo......wouldnt miss a beat for a second.......in the amp book its got a phase shift setting which is either 180degrees or 0degrees.......i think maybe ill flick that see if it changes anything

Yeh. It'll be very delayed with your boot closed as well.

Amp wouldn't matter I don't think... But that's where my expertise ends I'm afraid. I've gotten used to my slight delay and it doesn't really bother me anymore so I haven't asked how to fix it!

Theres a few other things to look at with the delay other than box design.
Consider chaging the phase of the sub (i.e. switching negative and positive terminals on the sub) This will def. have an effect on the timing of the "punch" also the physical properties of the falcon mean that the sub is quite a distance away from your ear. the time it takes for the sound to travel from the boot to drivers seat is noticeable. Thirdly, lower frequency speakers have a "group delay" which basically means that it takes longer for the sub to produce a lower frequency note (compared to a tweeter say) This may be in the order of ~20 milliseconds. put all these factors together and things can start sounding VERY laggy. The only way to completely fix this would be to purchase a deck with a time alignment function (clarion, eclipse, alpine....) sorry for the long post, but thought it may need some explaining... |

no worries, let us know how you go as ive had this problem in my old system.
Still in the middle of my new install (which happens to include a new 'tickety boo' clarion unit with time alignment) so i should have sorted this issue out. Ill be posting a thread soon with all the details soon... Dont want to spoil the surprise, but this does include fibreglassed rear sub boxes |

haha yea i agree the time alignment is the way to go....money needs to be spent so im gonna buy a dehp8850mp or the dehp9850bt pioneer decks as they have the time alignment and 16 band digital equalizer to go with everythin else......tell us how ur new install goes man...cheers

I very very much doubt that the sealed box is causing a delay, sealed boxes have the best group delay of all the enclosure styles.
Definitely muck around with phasing and also does it make any difference if the rear seat is down?

i had thought about the rear seat too....i tried turning them into the cabin but still seemed same delay (with seats up) to facing the rear........as to seats down i cant drive like that soo ill just wait for the new deck with time alignment that'll do the job....thanks
