in my EF ford the boot makes a loud rattling noise due to the subs, is there any cheaper option other than using sound deadining type products ? |

Get some of the cheap gap filler from bunning or what not, like 2-3 bucks a tube. 2 or 3 tubes should be about enough.
Pull off your boot lid lining and put all the gap filler between the bootskin and the braces. Then, if your plates causing issues, I personally have about 3 strips of cheap double sided tape behind mine, and then added the other 2 screws it takes, so has all 4 screws, since most leave the other 2 of. beyond that, i think your looking for sound deadening.

another way other than sound deadening to add weight to the panel is to make up mdf shapes that fit in the 4 holes/indents on the inside (in between the braces).
Then carpet/paint them and glue them into the holes this is most often done with sound deadner then over that |

It's pretty simple... Rattles occur when two objects hit each other, so separate those two objects with material, foam, rubber, whatever you can find.

yes and no, my boot once the rattle between the braces and the skin was fixed still rattled/made noises due to the subs litterally making it vibrate up and down 1cm, they were effectively turning my boot lid into another speaker which made annoying noises
adding weight fixed it to an extent though |

That would be resonance, not a rattle then. Deadener or adding weight, like you said, fixes resonating panels
My door skins resonate with certain frequencies and the skin sounds like a speaker humming away. A couple of layers of deadener fixed that. |

Any of you guys had any luck with this bostic stuff, I'm planning on gap filling my roof but hoping to use a bit of sound deadening while I'm at it, as it has been bad in the past.considering it's a bloody massive tin sheet. only main concern is the roof gettin hot and it dropping on the roof lining and pulling it down and if it actually effective.
I found this on it. {DESCRIPTION}
