i had the same problem. All i did was silastic between the ribs and the boot skin. This has got rid of the boot rattle completely . now to find the next rattle, which is the first of the ones you won't hear till you fix the bootlid rattle.

Yeah i recently got around to fixing mine up put 2 full tubes of the cheap gap sealer in there. and put 3 strips of double sided tape behind the number plate, and put in all 4screws, and pressed it down on the tape. not sure if the bootlid carpet adds to it, but it's brilliant now, car sounds heaps quieter when closed up with the subs going, boot lid feels nice and solid to.

I used clear sikaflex for my bootlid on my EF Fairmont, just tried to remove most of the filler foam stuff they use between the cross bracing from factory as it cracks and causes rattling aswell. Filled all the edges where the bracing meets the bootlid then dynamat over the top, then the bootlid lining. Costs a bit for the dynamat but it works wonders. Makes the bootlid feel so solid now and heavy , but no more annoying rattles, well not near as much rattle as it had before

Sikalfex, silastic or any other gap sealer that will stick well to painted metal surfaces will work fine, all it does is puts a flexible seal between the bracing and bootlid and stops them vibrating against each other. That by itself should eliminate most of the rattling. Then just put the bootlining back over the top, or if you havent got one already, pick up one from a Fairmont as not all EF's had them i think

You wait, after doing the boot the rear bumper will start rattling, then random s**t in the boot....then I had problems with some of my dash, and then the front bar and there's one up above my diff somewhere that I haven't figured out yet

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays? AU,factory fitted tickford kit/IRS, t5,Sports ryder/KYB: gone. |

Yeah, just had a look on my old man's xr6 and hes got one and i got one in my Fairmont. Im pretty sure that the base model falcons, futuras didnt have them though
And skidder is spot on with his post. You'll find that a whole bunch of other things will rattle once you stop one rattle. My dash on the passenger side is starting to rattle, my mirrors are rattling cause the screws have snapped inside them, my rearview mirror is on the verge of rattling itself off the windscreen .. Bloody annoying rattles |
