before you go to this extreme, fill the gaps on the boot lid with clear silicone to stop it from vibrating againt the boot skin. then lay some dynamat over the top of that. i done this in my xr and it stopped the rattles.

all up, i paid $30 for the dynamat and that was enough to do the boot with a tiny bit leftover and $5 for the silicone and caulking gun. so $35 and a few hours on the weekend = no sub vibrations. also i added some single sided foam tape in between the boot and number plate

Clean the surface as best as you can with degreaser on a rag

dont be shy with filling the gaps with silicone (i pumped a whole tube into the boot lid making sure to get right into all the gaps

allow at least 2 days for the silicone to fully dry before applying dynamat

buy a roller to get the dynamat to stick right into the corners (i bought a cheap paint sample pot roller from bunnings for a 3.50 and it work a treat)

also it makes it easy to apply the dynamat by cutting it into smaller more manageable peices

other than that take your time, do it once do it properly
