LMAO to the above!
What if ya got a buggered electric aerial (as i do), and wanted to replace it with an Aerpro aerial? Would the Aerpro one fit up the same as the Ford Aerial and would i still have the half height function? I pulled the old aerial out the other day and found that some of the teeth (on the mast) have been ground away by when the motor keeps turning even though the mast is all the way down. I greased it all up now works okay, but its just a band-aid solution. Just waiting for the next rain to wash the CRC away lol! |

How much are those Aerials?
and what's the reception quality like? (as compared to the stocko ones) If i install it myself, is it difficult? how long would it take? |

Aerpro make an AP5 - it suits EF/EL's it is fully automatic...so no BEM to worry about...wire it to an aftermarket deck to your power antenna trigger (if it has it)...retail is ~$120 or so, but have seen them at JB Hi-fi and Repco for ~$100.

Anyone else thinking of upgrading to BA 'on glass' aerial. If so is it as simple as going to Ford getting an aerial then running cable out to the rear windscreen?

The aerial is built into the glass, same as the rear demister wires

Just picked up a used EL Fairmont electric aerial for $15 and fitted it to to a EL GLI and just wired it so that it goes up on ignition and down when off. From memory, Red wire to Battery and Green to Accessories. I also got the switch for the 1/2 height but then realised the problem with the BEM - doh!

Thats what I want to do! Can you rig it so you control it when it goes up? |

Don't know how you would control it without the high series BEM. There's also the problem of non-standard radios - I only have one 'remote system' wire out of my Pioneer but there's 3 wires spare that go back into the loom doing nothing - 2 go to the 1/2 height switch - but who knows how it all works!? I think I'm happy with the small upgrade.[/quote]

Sorry this is off topic, Why is that? The last five cars I have owned have all had window tinting. No of them have had trouble with bubbling, and I often use the rear demister. Although I have seen some cars with badly bubbled rear windows, I never would have thought it was caused by the demister.
