I want to put an additional set of 6"s in the front doors of my EF. Are there any places that sell door mounts? Or are there any construction latouts floating around the web?

Do you mean something sort of like this?
I done these at home. I bought the speaker pods from a local audio shop and made the rest myself using about 3-4mm MDF and just cutting to shape and sanding round the edges. Quite easy, and pretty cheap to make as well and they looked great. |

The easiest way is to take off the map pocket if you have on and trace around it onto the MDF panel as a guide. Make sure that you cut out the door trim to allow the speaker to vent into the door cavity....

Yeah, just placed the map holder onto some MDF and traced the shape on. Then I got a jigsaw and cut the shape out. And to smooth the edges of the MDF for a cleaner look i used a sander and gave it a bit of an angle. I bought the door pods and then painted them with K+H plastic/vinyl paint and mounted them to the board after covering it with material. to put the material on, i sprayed some material adhesive and then stretched it over the MDF and then used a staple gun to staple it at the back of the MDF. The MDF had to have a hole cut in it as the Type-r speakers have a fairly big magnet on them. They sounded bloody great and it was a pretty nice setup. They didn't get in the way of your feet when driving. Hope this helps mate, Cheers |
