Looking at putting a really good entertainment system in my car. Just signed up for ADSL so I can finally start getting some decent movies etc. I have just bought a 7 inch Lilliput screen which will do the job for the time being.
I'm looking at a few options in regards to the system.
I've already got a chipped Xbox so that was an obvious option. Only problem with that is its size and the fact I would have to use the Xbox controller.
Thinking of an incar pc, with the lowest end AMD set up I can find (doesnt need to be powerful as it wont be used for games) but then without a touch screen there is the problem of controls.
Who else has done an incar pc install? How much are power inverters etc?
Was also thinking of an IRiver type media player for storage, and run the video through the screen.
Lastly I saw these http://www.mediagate.co.kr/english/prod_mg25.htm
It looks like it could be the way to go as I have found one packaged with a 40gb hd for $300. I want to keep the stock premium head unit so I will just run the sound through an FM Modulator.
Anyone have any suggestions, advice or ideas?
Cheers

I have a fm modulator, and i also have one of the tape adapters, you get heaps better sound thru the tape...
and u should be able to use it with your premium head unit...
i have one in my mid series, i just run the wire up thru the the dash...
not too obvious!
That lil box looks like the way to go...and then if you want to use it in an incar computer you could use that as the hdd anyways!

Yeah it looks pretty cool, uses the 2.5 laptop hdds though so a bit more expensive. Might go the computer though as that way I can have touchscreen, digital tv and radio as extra, will be pretty cool.

`one of my eployees made a touch screen in car multimedia center for his soarer, it had the mini board and a 12vsupply, he also wired up a microcontroller to tell it to turn off when the ignition was turned off, and it had a small 12v sla battery so that it could revert to that to shut down

it was his uni assignment so he should have the doc still around if yoru interested

Thatd be awesome mate. Ive been looking around for PSU's for the comp hoping to find a 12V DC - DC, with about 200W. If you could get those docs I'll be a very true customer to FTG, :D
