Only reads Fat16 and Fat32. But from what I could see it doesn't need a OS. Just the HD crammed full of MP3's. Would need much of a PS.

I don't know, given that MP3 support is so common in car audio gear these days it hardly seems worth the trouble rigging up something like that. It has a couple advantages like massive storage and that optional CF adaptor but when weighed against the lack of any kind of obvious network or external connectivity support (making adding/removing songs to it an absolute pain in the a***, depending on how you choose to mount it) and lack of real integration with the rest of your audio gear an MP3 capable head unit and/or stacker still seems the better option to me.

That looks pretty good! I wonder how much.

I guess it all depends on what youre trying to acheive too. My main purpose of having an in-car PC is for monitoring and editing the Engine Management plus GPS/Navigation.

i have a ipod for my music its hooked up with itrip atm
When i get my new car (hopefully soon) i will pay for a adapter for a direct AUX in
But for the timebeing its doing rather well and i can use outside the car 2

Or just do what dunis and I did in his green EL. put in a full dedicated PC into the boot. Custom install with an AMD athalon 1800XP 512MB of RAM 40GB HDD an AudigyII for the sound processing and bluetooth KB/Mouse. screen mounted on the dash. Oh and a cd burner and a wireless connection

Purposes:
MP3's
divX's
gaming
cd burning
GPS nav
and anything else ou can do on a pc

I will be putting one in the maverick soon
