Well as my school project i was going to build a carputer and make a ECU thing so i can get data from the bastard.
My carputer is almost finished. I need the 9200 from my mates place. Then ill be running some cables to the front of the car. I need a new deck so im going a pioneer thing with RCA input. ALready have my 8" LCD. Will hook that up to it. Last thing is i need to make a GUI for this ECU connection and need some help. Was thinking programming it with C or C++ but i need to learn that first.

google it man unless u actually have to program it yourself, theres programs for the ford dol to decode information.

well it only uses serial communications....that aint exactly hard to code in to c/c++
hardest part is knowing what you are exactly looking at/looking for in the serial code

As said before, retrieving information isnt hard, its actually reading it and interpretting it the right way. A bit like hex datamine, where you have a bunch of numbers, you know their values, and all you need to do is find out what they relate to
And if you wanna know how to read it, I posted up a schematic in the Interior Mods section under EF/EL Laptop Trip Computer or something similar to that. Cheers

I know what hex is (been hacking away at the EEC, with varied levels of success and mechanical failure).

no idea about programs to decode it, and in terms of hex, thats exactly what I was referring to.
