Just bought a 99 AU Fairmont and of course the cd stacker is missing. I have noticed on other topics that its an alpine brand but is there a special type of stacker I need to look for? Is there a second hand market for these units (i have tried ebay and trading post)?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your response disco frank, although it certainly is hard to concentrate on your txt with those things bouncing around. What are my chances of picking up a used stacker somewhere. I tried putting in a WTB post on the forum but I don't have enough posts yet to do that. Is it safe to assume that stackers would be long gone before a damaged car gets to the wreckers or should I give that a go.

Could anybody who owns a 99 Fairmont AU please have a look at the cd stacker in their boot and let me know its model number.
Many thanks.

You will see the stackers for sale on ebay everyday, but not listed under ford parts.
You need an Alpine "m-bus" stacker which is as common as muck. The m-bus stackers are easily identified by the "chm" at the start of the model number.
You will need the Alpine cable and also an adapter which any good car audio shop should be able to help you with and will cost probably $30- $50.
Thats it.
I assume your factory head unit has cd controls?
If you have trouble with the adaptor let me know.
Cheers, Outlawxr6
