One of the door lock actuators is stuffed..
Can you unlock either front door, using the key, without the locks cycling? If so it is that doors actuator. If the locks cycle even when using the key in both front doors then one of the rear actuators is the culprit.

can't be rear as they aren't master switches, either replace with stock items or do the central locking conversion that is in the tech doco section(well worth it i did it and there heaps better),this gets covered at least twice a week.

A bad rear actuator will exhibit the same symptoms..
While I agree that the subject has been covered many times I don't believe anyone has actually explained how to simply diagnose which one is at fault.

Bloody ford can't even do it, I took it to them with CL problems and they quoted me $800+ labour for a new set of actuators. Thinking this was a bit steep I took it to an auto-electrician and he fixed it by installing 2nd hand lock mechanisms for $350 all up.

if you went to grawill thats why they are the s**t dealership ive ever been too i dunno how there still in business,if you are gonna use stock items visit a wreckers you should pick up a whole set for around $100 and installation is easy on those,or you could try using some grease on your lock mechanisms and then work the locks by hand to loosen them up take the pressure of the actuator. |
