I'm just curious if anyone has an active crossover installed in their system? I should be getting one soon, and as I can see it, this little beast will provide a lot more functionality than the built in stuff on most top end headunits, plus providing 7volts of clean signal through it's three pairs of RCA's.
What say you ? |

most power amps have active x-overs built in, nothing wrong with an active x-over its just hard to find straight power amp with only gain controls. One good features that some active x-overs have is a phase switching for sub and a centre channel.

The active crossover sounds awesome to me.... You can also do a bandpass crossover for your mid range speakers. Say if you install a set of 8"s or something in pods, you don't necessarily need to use a 3-way passive crossover.
The one i'm getting is an OPTIX3 lanzar one, and the dude that gets lanzar gear from the states for the shop here in mackay doesn't even bring it into the country. It's gonna cost me $79US He wanted to sell me a possible replacement for....wait for it..... $1000!!! You've gotta be joking. I can't wait to get this. From what I can tell, it will make my system so much better, and I wont have to replace my headunit (Alpine - MBus, 2 pair RCA) and Once I get my monoblock and sub/s I'll be laughing all the way home. (doofing maybe!) |
