Do you have a sub aswell?? If you do, i found that the sub pressure was pushing my 6x9's out and therefore causing them to distort. I remember that there's a name for this type of distortion but fVcked if i can remember what it's called

What kind of 6x9's have you got? and are they always distorting? or only when you turn it up loud?
Cheers

6x9s arent made to sound good. save amp money and get a set of 6.5" and run off head unit. it probably sounds better anyway

The sub may have caused them to "wear out" prematually, that and just general wear and tear.... |

That passive interference from the sub your talking about is something I had never thought about in this context before. But how logical is that. I'll have to disconnect my rears one day and see how much effect the sub has on the cones. Interesting..

The sub does have quite an affect on them... but causing them to distort... dunno. Has this always happened? or started just recently?
Cheers

Sorry. 6x9's need power, this power a HU can not supply and it will distroy the internal amp causing premature distorsion. 6x9's are the devils speaker and are good for magnets and paper weights! Sell them to some kid and buy some 6.5's |

I'm just thinking from an SQ point of view, the harmonic distortion produced by the rear cones reacting to the sub in the boot must a point of annoyance.. |

Well, all I can think of is the sub making the excursion of the speakers longer, and disallowing certain frequencies to be reporoduced, and maybe even delayed response. So from an SQ point of view, Would be probably be better to box them behind the parcel shelf or something. imo anyway. Cheers
