hey guys

i know bugger all about this kind of stuff but the other half wants to put a DVD in the tourer (nissan patrol) to keep the kids quite on long trips.
maybee even a seperate one up front for the adults!
am thinking about a dash mounted DVD and a drop screen from the roofin the back.
and a dash mounted screen in the front? the car has a double din cd in it now so the space is there for it.dont really want to spend more than about 3 grand

what brand of gear would people recommend and what sort of set up??

to tell u the truth ur not really going to get much for 3 g's u need to go for quilty in ur price range a guess but i think most of the say pioneer kenwood alpine dvd dash mount screens are around 2500 upwards but then u still gotta get somthing for the kids my dad just bought one of the tablet style dvd screen from aldi(apprently aldi electrical stuff is pretty good) it only cost 400 bucks but i think having somthing permantly mounted would be beta

b4 he bought that we wer lookin at roof mounts one was a ronan screen wich they used to use in the falcon b4 they started to use cheaper screens and that was 2500 fitted but it idint fit in the car the roof lines in the discovery are s**t thats why dad got the tablet thing so yeah hope u were able to make some sense out of this

hmmm also when purchasing an LCD screen u also got to look out for warranty some brands dont offer a refund on dead pixels when theres a black spot, The more u pay the better the quality as already mentioned.

Just a quick question the drop down screens roof mounted wouldnt that get in the way of rear vision?

You can do it quite cheaply if you want to.

Roof mount screens starrt at around the $300 mark and you can pick up a basic dash mount with a manual pull out for under $1000, and then all you need is a cheap DVD player for around another $300. Factor in about $500-$600 for instilation and the kids will be happy.

If you are going to do this I suggest you get a pair of wierless headphones for each of the kids. Like you want to listen to nemo for the 100th time

There is a pioneer in dash screen and dvd player for about 1800, 7" wide screen, then you could purchase a drop down screen depending on side will depend on price.

Sony also now make an in car dvd system to sit on the arm rest in the middle seat, its about $700.

Best of heading down to JB and have a peak at what they have

i have a pioneer in dash system with dvd stacker, and i love it, plays vcds dvds cds
just wish it had mp3!
