Don't know if they still sell it, but my interior is lined with Flashtac from bunnings, which is cheaper and sold by the roll.

There is lots of things similar, but only a few things as effective.

Stinger Roadkill and Dynamat Extreme are the two best and most expensive available in Australia. There isn't really much else available in Australia that is very good. You'd need to import if you want something good but cheaper.

If you want something cheaper that is OK if you use a couple of layers, then do a search for "Flashtac". It's an asphalt tape with an aluminium backing used for roofing. It's in the roofing section at Bunnings and most hardware stores. As you can see it's not actually a deadener but is made of similar products as deadener.

[edit] I type too slow :)

i know most people who have used the Jaycar stuff complain on hot days it just falls off and collects at the bottom of the doors, Dynamat is definately the stuff to use but some people i know have used just roofing tar as it does a similar job its cheap as but is a bit crude, there was a thread similar to this on Mobileelectronics.com.au that went throught the pros cons and alternatives.

If you're referring to Flashtac, then it works OK. A couple of layers is required to make it effective at all.

You stick it to the metal panels to stop/reduce resonance in the metal. It's mainly used in doors as the midbass frequencies from your door speakers really make the door skin resonate (buzz).

I mainly want it for around the floor and boot. Places where it shouldnt peel and fall off.

But yeh... The Jaycar stuff is HEAPS cheaper so maybe it's worth a go. If it does the job then I can use it on the doors and stuff.

What are you trying to do? Deaden the metal panels or stop road noise?

Deaden metallic rattles. Not road noise. I'm gonna add a bit of insulation for that. So I guess I won't really need it on the car floor come to think of it.

The Jaycar stuff should be fine for the floor, but I'd use something better for vertical surfaces.

I have had good results with a combo of dynamat & flashtac in the doors & boot. I used the heavier dynamat to stop resonance on the outer door panels and the flashtac to seal off various parts of the door. Flashtac also does a great job inside my bootlid, never had issues with it falling off when it's applied right (clean surface, roller, heat gun, etc).

Stone, I still have your old Brahma 15", still kicking hard after that rebuild back in 2002 (I think?). Only wish it didn't weigh so much!!
