Hello again
I've found all these lovely Alpine Type R speakers and subwoofers, not to mention the amps that drive them, on eBay for pretty much half the retail price. The seller says the items get shipped over from asia, and my concern is that if i buy this stuff, i'll be stuck with a huge customs/duty fee just to get them into the country. What's everyone's thoughts on this? Is it a worthwhile endeavour, or should i forget about it? Here's the links to help you guys see: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Alpine-MRV-F545-Amplifier-2005-Car-Audio-RRP899_W0QQitemZ5796355371QQcategoryZ3292QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2-x-Alpine-Type-R-12-SWR-1242D-BRAND-NEW_W0QQitemZ5796588578QQcategoryZ3292QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ALPINE-SPR-17LS-Type-R-6-1-2-Component-2-way-Speaker_W0QQitemZ5795773206QQcategoryZ3292QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ALPINE-SPR-17LP-Type-R-6-1-2-Coaxial-2-way-Speaker_W0QQitemZ5796102423QQcategoryZ3292QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Thanks guys, your help will be much appreciated.

Well some of those links say "Full Warranty" but i assume you'd have to fly over to somewhere in asia to claim on it The warranty i can live without, because i take care of my things, but it's the customs fees i'm so f**king worried about. The system i wanted would cost $3972.00 here, but thanks to ebay's wheeling and dealing, it'll cost $2116.00 if i use these guys. Have a look at the links, and please let me know what you think.
Cheers

Taking care of your things as nothing to do with the warranty. Warranty isnt there to cover things that you do, it's there to cover manufacturing faults and the like. If you buy it and it is faulty through no fault of your own then the warranty will cover it. But if there is no warranty your stuck with $2000 worth of crap...

True, there is a fair amount of luck involved as to receiving the goods in undamaged condition, and i'd certainly not want to waste $2000, but then again, if it is all in working order, and there are no customs fees, then i'd be SAVING $2000 by not buying retail here. But yeah, keep the comments coming, i want to get a lot of feedback before i make a decision either way.
Cheers

Are you sure the limit is 500? Some of my mates think it's 1000, but either way, i suppose i could send each component to one of my mates under their name, hence each part wouldn't incur a fee. That seems to be the best option at the mo...

There wouldn't be customs involved at all would there? The company itself is in Australia isn't it? You're buying from them, not technically buying from Asia. I might be wrong though.............

Sweet, thanks deano, certainly gives me something to think about, knowing there's a real-life satisfied customer out there. Surely Alpine can't be too happy about a company selling their stuff so dirt cheap? I wonder how legal this company is
