eclipse have a pretty good reputation in SQ circles, security isnt 100%, no detatchable face IIRC, but if the HU gets removed from a power source, you need the CD supplied with the HU to get it going again
why the big spend all of a sudden? coal bonus come thru lol

looks good. You gonna be running speakers with amps or straight from the HU.

Bloody beautiful units. I would have gotten one over my Alpine unit, but they don't have a detachable face High spec Eclipse units have 8 volt pre outs!!

My housemate just won the top of the line eclipse HU (last year's) at an eclipse product lauch last week (he works in car audio)... i think this thing had 8v pre-outs for the amp, I think we are talking serious SQ gear... thing even came with a memory stick... a bloody jog wheel on the remote...WTF?!?!?
The way the security CD works is you actually train the thing to use one of your CDs... so you put in a CD from your collection and this becomes the CD required to reactivate the HU if it loses power... i think this may be the ESN..?!?

Hmm best idea would be not to leave the Cd's in your car either! But thats a pretty crazy way of disabling the HU. And yes Eclipse are a very good choice for HU's, thier subs are pretty darn good too.

thats not it. A cd comes with the unit and you leave that cd at home or something and only use it to activiate the hu.

Screw that mate, you're going the wrong way about it if you're after sound quality, and it would be a waste with an Eclipse head unit. I'd be running some decent front speakers off an amp, and wouldn't bother with the rears and just get a decent sub to take care of the bass.

voids: what training company are you with?

"Eclipse have not used a removable face as a security feature, instead they use E.S.N (Eclipse Security Network) where you choose a “Key CD” and programme it into the unit. When power is removed (i.e. unit is stolen) the only way to make the player work again is to insert the “Key CD”. This is a great idea and beats most of the other security systems I’ve seen, you just have to make sure you don’t lose that rare copy of Fred Dagg’s Greatest Hits that you used as the Key CD. Also to help identify your stolen player there is an electronic serial number than can’t be scraped off like the paper ones." Apologies for the strange characters in the text... I can confirm the HU did not come with any CDs
