Can any of you guys tell me what the Alpine Audio Specs are for a 12/93 ED XR6 with premium sound kit.

The 2 rear speakers are 4 ohms and Sub is 6 ohm.

Just need these confirmed and the specs of the Amp.

I was think of upgrading the 4, 6" speakers to brand new Alpine 6 inch ones and the sub to a more powerful 8", cause i can't be bothered modifing the boot. Would doing this require an new Amp? and is it worth it.

I'm trying to achieve better sound quality at higher levels, but who isn't
8-)

I think these systems are similar to EF/EL and are rated around 250W RMS.

Each front speaker runs off the head unit which gives 25W RMS per channel.

The rear speakers run off an amp in the boot thats rated at 50W RMS per channel. The sub channel is bridged. Running an 8 gauge wire to power the amp would get the amp running to around 75W RMS per channel.

I think you will have some fun finding front speakers that run off that little power. And 8" free air subs are non existant. 8" in general is nearly non existant. I have an 8" sub at home that I was going to install, but never got round to it. But even then, the factory amp may have struggled to power it.

But as NA said, anything is better than the old paper cones you have in there now. If you do value you sound quality, chances are you would need to look at replacing and adding an amp.

Well i just found the orginal Sales Booklet and its says:
'True music lovers though will opt for the state of the art Alpine Premium Sound System with CD Player. It offer studio quality sound with a 260 watt output through nine indivisual speaker elements."

I never thought it came out with 9 speakers.

Two mids in the front doors, 2 tweeters in dash, an 8" parcel tray sub, and two 2 way speakers on parcel shelf.
Ford count the two 2 ways as 4 speakers.
