Hi guys/Gals.

I was wondering if anyone has sucessfully
installed a double din unit from a EF/EL fairmont/ghia
into a EA-ED..

I am curious as to what faceplace was used
as obviously the EA-ED single din faceplate requires cutting into the pocket area
but still may not sit correctly..

Any help/pics would be greatly appreciated..

I have both a single din and a double din unit in my ED but it was a lot of work. To install the double din unit I removed the centre fascia and cut a section out of the centre part where the unit would be mounted. I attached a thin piece of 12mm think MDF to the bottom to bring the bottom out a bit then fitted a piece of 3mm MDF to cover the whole fascia. I then filled in the gap around the side with a fibreglass bog and spent a considerable amount of time sanding and filing it down until it had perfectly rounded edges. At that point I primed and painted it but it didn't turn out the way i liked so i'm going to strip it back and dip it in resin and try painting it again.

So yes, i have but there is bound to be an easier way.
